Connecting Our ELL Families
In December, we had a breakfast at Franklin for our ELL families so that they could learn more about school and district resources. In addition, it was a great way for other ELL families to connect with each other and the school!
Some highlights from the event:
Some highlights from the event:
- Families met our new interim principal, Elaine Harold, our Title I Family Liaison, Deb Rooney, and Newton's Parent Outreach Worker, Adriana (Nani) Bauza.
- Families volunteered and signed up for "buddy" families who speak the same home language and can be a knowledgeable resource for Franklin and the community.
- Families learned about Franklin's library and online resources from our school librarian, Jennie Simopoulos.
- Families learned about Newton's library resources and events from the public librarian. Parents could even sign up for free library cards for themselves and their children.
- Community events and resource information were distributed so that families and children could learn more about how to be involved with their community.
- Parents were able to sign up for free English language classes in Newton.
